I thoroughly enjoyed designing the class webpage, and think that weebly is extremely user friendly and simple. The choice of backgrounds is quite amazing, and uploading files and embedding links is very simple, which is good. However, there are some faults too, such as not being able to shift the text box to the desired position, and just limiting your videos to two clips. I'm not sure, but these problems might be specific to the design or background chosen. I wonder if y'all too encountered the same problems?
On the whole, it's simple, fast and yes... quite addicting too :)

I had much the same experience, though I didn't notice the video clip problem. I would love to be able to move things around a little more, and I am wondering if you get more formatting freedom if you pay for the "pro" service or if it is just the basic program regardless. With the video issue, does thin include the youtube videos or are you talking about other videos? I only put two youtube clips up there, so I haven't tried that out yet. I absolutely agree with you though- it is very addicting, and lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteYup I was referring to the youtube clips. However, I just went back to the site and played around a little, to discover I was mistaken. It seems like you can add as many youtube clips as you like ! Woohoo. But yes Kina.. as you mentioned.. video uploads are only possible through 'pro'
ReplyDeleteYes, I figured as much. I'm glad to hear that the youtube videos are not part of that limitation. I really like the program though. I have to admit that I am a stickler for formatting, so that is probably my largest complaint. I haven't really figured out how to hyperlink on this page, unless it is a question of uploading a file from your computer, but I am still poking around.
ReplyDeleteHyperlinking on weebly took me a while to figure out too, but I did succeed eventually. What you have to do is, in the text box or paragraph box, highlight the part you want to hyperlink, and then click on the chain-like symbol (near the font and size options). You can enter the website there...
ReplyDeleteI agree with KINA that Weebly is great but flawed when it comes to moving things around and formatting. Weebly is extremely "jumpy" and you have to be careful when clicking around in edit mode because things will just move all over. Also, I REALLY wish that the font preferences was as good as word. It is hard to get uniform color on different pages without coping and pasting previously written statements. What a headache. But it is a great, quick and easy in and out, which suits many peoples needs.
ReplyDeleteWeebly is pretty good. However, I looked into the Pro and as far as I can see there are not that many benefits (unless you need more than two pages). Pro does vastly increase your upload limit, but it doesn't seem to give you more options in term of design.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Ender ! I don't think I'm going to upgrade :)
